NEW YORK, Oct. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Washington Square Hotel has the distinction of being the only independently owned hotel in NYC that's been continuously operating as a hotel since 1902. One of the few remaining family-owned hotels in New York City, the Washington Square Hotel marks its 110^th anniversary this month. As the only hotel located on famed Washington Square Park, the Art Deco-styled property has become an icon in Greenwich Village.

This year, to celebrate the anniversary, the Paul family has made a number of updates to the hotel's rooms, including new energy efficient windows and air conditioning in the three story annex building, as well as a new Penthouse suite. Coinciding with the hotel's 110^th anniversary is the 20^th anniversary of its award- winning North Square restaurant. The restaurant will celebrate with a two-week-long special menu in November.

Since opening its doors in 1902, as the Hotel Earle, the Washington Square Hotel has been a home away from home for guests ranging from Ernest Hemingway to Bob Dylan.
