OLYMPIA, Wash., Jan. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Washington Hospitality Association is celebrating more than five years of sharing industry news, the latest trends and interviews with outstanding local members through its successful DineNW Radio program and podcast.
DineNW is a weekly radio show that broadcasts every Wednesday at noon from the Tacoma-based KLAY 1180 AM to all parts of the Puget Sound region. KLAY program manager Bruce Bond says the show was an instant hit with area listeners.
"Food is such a universal topic. Whenever you talk about food it's of interest to everyone," said Bond. "DineNW really connects with listeners, whether it's a story about a recipe or a new local restaurant or how a meal is prepared. We've been proud to carry this show on our station and we look forward to sharing even more episodes in the years ahead."
When the then-Washington Restaurant Association first launched the show in September 2011, it was the first restaurant association in the country to host a radio program on a privately owned station. Over the years, DineNW has continued to innovate and reach new audiences. The program streams worldwide 24/7 at www.klay1180.com and podcasts of the show are also available for later listening and download. The show also has a Facebook page, where listeners and industry experts can comment and share story ideas.
"We are thrilled with the success of DineNW and can't wait to bring even more great stories to our members and listeners," said Lex Nepomuceno, director of communications and technology for Washington Hospitality Association. "Listeners enjoy DineNW because it gives them a glimpse into what goes on in their favorite local restaurants. That's a big benefit for our members who work hard to provide great experiences in local neighborhoods every day. And now, the show is reaching even more listeners online who might think about visiting a featured restaurant when they're in town," he said. "It's been a tremendous win for our members and our association."
The DineNW radio show and podcast received the 2015 Gold Award from the Hermes Creative Awards Digital Awards in the podcast category. Judges, in this national competition, are industry professionals with a high standard of excellence.
