Washington, DC's Center for Plastic Surgery Advises Growing Group of Male Plastic Surgery Patients to Seek Experienced Doctors
The Center for Plastic Surgery has been working with male plastic surgery patients for almost three decades and continues to meet the needs of male patients
WASHINGTON, April 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- More than one million cosmetic procedures were performed on men in 2013, according to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. That number is up 273% since 1997, indicating that more men than ever are seeking out plastic surgery and cosmetic treatments.
The Center for Plastic Surgery in Washington, DC has been providing cosmetic procedures for men since their founding 29 years ago, in 1986. In that time, they've seen the number of male patients grow steadily, with a significant upsurge in the past few years.
BOTOX® for men (sometimes called "Brotox") is quickly becoming one of the most popular anti-aging treatments for men who desire a more youthful appearance. "Men are especially drawn to BOTOX because of its minimal downtime and reputation as an effective way to reduce wrinkles in the upper face," notes Dr. G. Wesley Price, a board certified plastic surgeon with the Center for Plastic Surgery. "But men should understand that they need to choose a doctor with experience in treating men, to avoid a feminized look or poor results."
Male BOTOX treatments require an advanced understanding of male facial anatomy and should only be performed by a board certified surgeon or nurse injector under physician supervision. "As more men discover cosmetic treatments, it is essential that they vet a doctor's qualifications and experience with a given procedure," explains Price.
Men's increasing interest in cosmetic procedures goes beyond BOTOX and favorites such as rhinoplasty. Statistics indicate that more men are choosing body contouring as a way to improve their overall physique. Liposuction was the number one cosmetic surgery for men in 2013, and interest in male body lifting procedures is growing.
"Many men are concerned about love handles and other trouble spots that are difficult to tone with diet and exercise alone," explains Dr. Samir Rao. "And for men who have experienced significant weight loss, body lift surgery can make a dramatic difference in the patient's appearance and confidence."
The Center for Plastic Surgery offers a full range of surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic treatments for men in the greater DC area. "In response to the growing interest in plastic surgery for men, we have developed a new section of our website designed especially for men," says Dr. James French. "It includes information on all of our cosmetic procedures for men so they can make informed decisions as they consider ways to improve their appearance."
