Washington, D.C. Lobbyist Mike Ferrell Joins Williams Mullen to Launch Its Federal Government Affairs Practice

RICHMOND, Va., July 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael J. Ferrell, a recognized government affairs lawyer and lobbyist, has joined the law firm of Williams Mullen to launch its Washington, D.C.-based Federal Government Affairs practice.  Ferrell brings extensive experience across a wide range of legislative and political issues.

Ferrell joins the firm from Venable LLP where he established and led the firm's first government affairs practice growing it to one of the largest in the U.S.  He previously co-owned a government affairs consulting firm and served as senior vice president and legislative counsel to the Mortgage Bankers Association of America.  Before beginning his law practice, Ferrell spent 11 years on Capitol Hill in various legislative and administrative positions for members of the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. The American Banker named him one of D.C.'s top lobbyists.

Ferrell holds a bachelor's degree in history and political science from the Mercy College of Detroit and earned his juris doctor from George Mason University.  He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and Virginia State Bar.
