Waltham Broker Earns Distinguished Service Award

BOSTON, July 6, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Amleto "Mel" Martocchia, broker owner of Martocchia & Company, Inc. in Waltham, was presented with the Andrew F. Hickey Distinguished Service Award at the Greater Boston Association of REALTORS® (GBAR) Annual Awards Breakfast held on June 14 at the Wellesley Country Club in Wellesley.

Established in 2006, the Andrew F. Hickey Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to one local REALTOR® for his or her lengthy and dedicated service to GBAR and the Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB).  Recipients must hold membership in GBAR for a minimum of 15 years and are recognized as prominent and effective leaders within the REALTOR® association, real estate industry and their local community.

Martocchia, a REALTOR® since 1985 and past President of GBAR, has served on no less than 20 local, state and national committees within the REALTOR® Association, chairing five of them. During this time, he spearheaded an initiative to organize and expand GBAR's community outreach efforts through annual investment in local non-profit housing agencies. Martocchia also participated in efforts to re-write state real estate laws to regulate agency practice and chaired a committee that implemented a group health care insurance program for Massachusetts REALTORS®. Additionally, he was a contributor at the local and state levels for reviewing and revising forms libraries and was an active voice in the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) consolidation efforts which led to the establishment of MLS Property Information Network, a regional broker-owned property listing service used by agents and brokers.
