Walter P. Chrysler Museum Showcases What's Under the Hood Through Oct. 31
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- For those who believe it's what's inside that matters most, the Walter P. Chrysler Museum, in Auburn Hills, Mich., is raising the hoods on 33 vehicles within its collection through Sunday, Oct. 31.
From the 1915 Dodge Brothers Touring car within the Museum's first floor gallery through the 1986 Chrysler Town & Country convertible on the second floor, enthusiasts can get a good look at Chrysler engine evolution through 16 models exhibited chronologically. A stop in Boss Chrysler's Garage one floor below reveals an additional 17 exposed engines on an eclectic mix of race and muscle cars, Jeep® vehicles and trucks. A complete list of vehicles is available at www.wpchryslermuseum.org.
The hoods were initially lifted for the Museum's recent Under the Hood presentation that showcased eight retired Chrysler executives who were instrumental in developing several of the company's most iconic vehicles. The next program in the Museum's lecture series – Professional Motorsports Photography, featuring Michael Levitt, owner of LAT USA – is slated for 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6. Visit www.wpchryslermuseum.org for details and to register.
The Walter P. Chrysler Museum exhibits more than 65 antique, custom and concept vehicles. The first floor traces the industry's first 50 years from Chrysler's perspective, featuring rare vehicles dating back to the early 1900s, including several historic marques. The second floor continues Chrysler's story, beginning with the introduction of the first HEMI® engine in 1951, and highlights decades of design, engineering and marketing successes. The lower level Boss Chrysler's Garage houses dream machines of the 1950s – 1970s along with an array of Jeep vehicles and trucks.
