Walsh College Adds Two Distinguished Professors to Full-Time Faculty
TROY, Mich., Aug. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Walsh College announced today the addition of two new full-time faculty members: Michael Rinkus, associate professor of finance and economics and Jennifer Sanderson, assistant professor of accounting.
Rinkus of Troy has been with Walsh College since 1985 as an adjunct faculty member, having taught undergraduate and graduate courses in International Finance, Financial Institutions and Capital Markets, Financial Statement Analysis and International Management. Rinkus is currently a board member of the Bankers Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT), as well as being the past president of the Institute of Management Accountants, Detroit chapter and a former member of the International Financial Services Association (IFSA) board.
Rinkus joins Walsh after spending more than 31 years at Comerica Bank, having most recently held the position as group manager of International Operations and, prior to that, International Trade Finance.
Rinkus holds a Bachelor of Science from Wayne State University, and a Master of Business Management from Central Michigan University. Rinkus is the fifth full-time faculty member in the Finance and Economics Department at Walsh College.
Jennifer Sanderson of Macomb has more than 20 years of experience in public accounting, having most recently served as a tax principal at Rehmann in Troy, and taught at Walsh as an adjunct professor since 2006. At Rehmann, Sanderson managed all aspects of tax service for various medium to large corporate clients. Services included corporate income tax compliance and planning, as well as tax provision work. Sanderson led the Rehmann team responsible for the firm's ASC Topic 740 work. She also serviced a wide variety of small business owners on areas of income taxation for their businesses and families. Sanderson served four years as the director of university recruiting for the Michigan Offices of Arthur Andersen. In addition, she served two years as the director of tax at O/E Systems, Inc.
Sanderson received a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Western Michigan University, and a Master of Science in taxation from American University. Sanderson is the fifth full-time faculty member in the Accounting Department at Walsh College.
