Quintiq, a global leader in supply chain planning and optimization (SCP&O), announced today that Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) is expanding its use of Quintiq's SCP&O platform across its global ocean and land-based operations. WWL, an independent global provider of outbound vehicle logistics services, is currently benefitting from using the Quintiq platform to maximize vessel space utilization and has now chosen Quintiq as the technology platform for its Integrated Planning System (IPS), which is the embodiment of a company-wide initiative to improve operational efficiencies within ocean services. The IPS will encompass the planning of WWL's resources from long-term capacity management and tonnage allocation to voyage scheduling and day-to-day operational scheduling. It will efficiently plan the vessel operations optimizing on cost and customer demand fulfillment, while taking all operational constraints into account. Quintiq's platform will have a significant and direct benefit on WWL's operations and will allow for cost savings and improved customer service across its operations. The IPS project is the first of several projects WWL has in the pipeline where Quintiq's platform will add value and improve operational efficiency and agility to meet customer demands.
Prior to the Quintiq platform implementation, WWL handled capacity and vessel planning via multiple in-house applications. With Quintiq, WWL will enjoy global visibility and powerful optimization capabilities across the full operational spectrum through a single shared planning platform.
"We are extremely pleased with the decision by WWL to further deploy Quintiq," said Arjen Heeres, Quintiq COO. "WWL will benefit more from the Quintiq platform within the organization, not only for ocean transportation but also for its inland distribution, terminal services and overall supply chain management services. WWL has always been a highly esteemed customer, and we look forward to continuing to support the company on its journey to becoming the most optimized, efficient and innovative ro-ro carrier in the world."
"WWL's desire to further improve operational efficiencies across an already highly efficient operation requires enhanced ways of working; embracing the opportunities provided by advanced planning and optimization software is a key ingredient in this effort," said Torbjorn Dimblad, VP business systems at WWL. "The broader deployment of Quintiq to support WWL's ocean operations will provide two key benefits - it will provide transparency across our global planning functions and also allow planners to better leverage the vast amounts of information available in our forecasting and operational systems through optimization techniques. The IPS will enable us to take our operations to the next level and ensure that we continue to improve our delivery of logistics solutions in line with customer demands."
