Wall Streeters, TV Stars, Pro Athletes, and Poker Pros Raise $910,000 Going "All In" for Kids at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and WPT® Foundation Charity Poker Tournament Supporting the Food Allergy Department at CHOP
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Hosted by poker legend Phil Hellmuth, Jr., The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and WPT® Foundation's "All In" for Kids Poker Tournament raised $910,000 featuring the Food Allergy Department at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Held at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City, the winner of the "All In" for Kids Poker Tournament was Lance Breitstein from Ramsey, New Jersey.
The WPT Foundation's partnership with CHOP raises "All In" for Kids to a higher level than ever before. In addition to Phil Hellmuth, notable poker players at the tournament, which will be featured in a segment on a future World Poker Tour episode, included WPT anchor Lynn Gilmartin and commentator Vince Van Patten, event co-founder Dan Shak, Vanessa Selbst, WPT Season IX Player of the Year Andy Frankenberger, Jamie Kerstetter, Scott Baumstein, and Rounders co-creator Brian Koppelman.
New York Giants lineman Justin Pugh, Eagles five time Pro Bowler Mike Quick, NHL Alumni Ken Daneyko, Phillies Broadcaster Gregg Murphy, reality TV star Evan Starkman, and producer Burton Richie also participated in the event, and were joined by Children's Hospital chief executive officer Steven Altschuler, M.D., president Madeline Bell, hospital trustees, doctors, donors and grateful patient families, such as Gwen Keiser of the Tioga Foundation, and event co-chairs Joel and Jami Friedman who were instrumental during the "All In" for Kids Poker Tournament during its first year and continue their strong support.
The event also featured a charity auction where attendees were able to bid on sports memorabilia, vacations, and a VIP experience at the Season XIII WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open in Atlantic City. The Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa, a long-time supporter of "All In" for Kids, was instrumental in the evening's success, donating all of the poker tables and dealers for the event. This year featured the Food Allergy Department at CHOP, a national leader in advancing research and treatment for children with food allergies.
