Wall Street Journal Features Vending Machines Designed by AVT
Story Stated "It's not just chips and candy" anymore
CORONA, Calif., May 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AVT, Inc., (formerly Automated Vending Technologies) (Ticker: AVTC) (www.avtinconline.com), had one of their automated retailing systems featured in an article in the Wall Street Journal about the new world of vending. The report mentioned the unit that AVT designed to dispense Quiksilver brand bikinis and board shorts in the lobby of the Standard Hotel in Los Angeles.
These new systems are popping up all over the world, and offer a variety of benefits. "Vending machines eliminate the need to staff a store; they are open 24-7. They can also add a frisson of fun to otherwise mundane purchases," the WSJ stated.
The high-tech machines dispense goods as diverse as cell phones, gold coins and original art, to cosmetics, live bait and lingerie.
Food products also abound, with new machines that offer gourmet treats such as freshly made pizza, and hot popcorn made while-you-watch in AVT's exclusive Pop N Go system.
AVT company founder Shannon Illingworth commented on the article, saying that he is pleased that his idea of "automated retailing" is becoming so mainstream. "When I started AVT, we believed that self-service systems could offer consumers more choices, and give retailers additional distribution - without the overhead," he said. "And now, we can say with confidence that we are not only in the right business at the right time, but we are leading the way."
