Walk Score® Expands to Include Detailed Walkability Maps for 2,500 U.S. Cities
New City and Neighborhood Maps Make it Easy for Holiday Travelers to Scout Their Destinations
SEATTLE, Nov. 22, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Just in time for the holidays, the merry crew at Walk Score has added new features that make it easier to walk off that big meal and escape awkward family situations. Today, the team launched walkability "heat maps" and neighborhood rankings for 2,500 cities in the United States.
Walk Score now features:
- Walkability "heat maps" for 2,500 cities - with walkable areas in green and less walkable areas in red. Walk Score's "heat maps" let users view a map of each city, and spot its most walkable areas at a glance. Previously, the site had "heat maps" for just the 40 largest U.S. cities. New cities include New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Miami.
- Neighborhood pages and walkability rankings for over 6,000 neighborhoods. This lets users see a list of each city's most walkable neighborhoods and explore each neighborhood in greater detail.
"Holidays or no, Walk Score now has more to offer everyone who is looking for walkable places to live, work, or travel," said Josh Herst, CEO of Walk Score. "So, whether you're spending Turkey Day in Topeka or decking the halls in Denver, check Walk Score before you go - the nearest pub, coffee shop, gym or book store could be just a short walk away."
