MINNEAPOLIS, July 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Walden University's Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program has received a 10-year accreditation extension through 2028 by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), an autonomous national accrediting agency that ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate and residency programs in nursing.
"The CCNE accreditation extension is a high achievement that we're immensely proud to receive, as it's a testament to the outstanding outcomes of our DNP program," said Andrea Lindell, PhD, RN, ANEF, Walden University College of Health Sciences vice provost and School of Nursing dean. "Walden University's high-quality nursing programs are helping to address a nationwide shortage of qualified nurses and nursing faculty, and our graduates are in turn effecting positive social change in patient care and the healthcare industry at large."
CCNE serves the public interest by assessing and identifying programs that engage in effective educational practices. As a voluntary, self-regulatory process, CCNE accreditation supports and encourages continuing self-assessment by nursing programs and supports continuing growth and improvement of collegiate professional education and entry-to-practice nurse residency programs. It is a nongovernmental peer-review process that operates in accordance with nationally recognized standards established for the practice of accreditation in the United States.
The baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) and master's degree in nursing (MSN) programs at Walden University are also accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (www.ccneaccreditation.org). The nursing programs at Walden are designed to help students use evidence-based practice to enhance patient care and develop leadership skills. For more information, please visit WaldenU.edu/nursing.
