Walden's M.S. in Information Systems focuses on the use of technology to generate, process and share information within an organization. Students learn ways to use information technology to enhance decision making and organizational effectiveness; explore the theory and practice of information security and data protection; and plan, manage and implement relevant and appropriate technologies. Students in the program can prepare for potential job opportunities such as computer systems analyst, computer database manager, information systems architect, computer software programmer and applications designer and engineer.
The M.S. in Information Technology program balances theory and the practical, real-world experience required for key information technology positions. Students explore emerging opportunities in the field to create, maintain and secure information systems. The program, offering specializations in Information Security and Software Engineering, is designed to prepare students for senior-level or leadership positions in engineering, programming, security and systems architecture, including positions in computer software engineering, information technology security, network/systems administration and programming.
Walden is also introducing a new online Graduate Certificate in Information Systems to help students gain the skills they need to transition to a career in the high-growth fields of information systems and information technology. Credits from this five-course certificate program may be applied toward Walden's M.S. in Information Systems or M.S. in Information Technology.
The new programs join Walden's portfolio of degree programs for both experienced IT professionals seeking to expand their skills as well as students with little or no technical experience looking to enter the field. Information technology and management programs and specializations include the B.S. in Computer Information Systems, B.S. in Information Technology, Master of Information Systems Management, Ph.D. in Management with a specialization in Information Systems Management and a Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A.) with a specialization in Information Systems Management.
