Walden University Offers New M.S. in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling
Program focuses on evidence-based treatment—latest approach in mental healthcare
MINNEAPOLIS, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Walden University, one of the leading providers of online education, is now offering an M.S. in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling degree program, which was developed to meet a growing need in the field of counseling.
In this program, students can gain the experience to help diagnose mental and emotional disorders and resolve marriage and family conflicts related to divorce, mediation, child-rearing and school issues and family violence.
"Marriage, couple and family counseling is one of the fastest-growing components of the counseling profession," said Matt Buckley, Ed.D., program director for the M.S. in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling program at Walden. "We're proud to offer this master's degree for students so they can acquire the skills to help advance their careers in today's quick-paced and complex society, where couples and families face a range of serious issues that often require some type of intervention."
M.S. in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling
Developed according to national standards, this degree program helps to prepare students for an evidence-based counseling practice, an increasingly recognized approach in the healthcare industry. This type of practice can prepare counselors to improve the quality of client care by learning to combine their own clinical and observational skills with the best of research-supported interventions to help clients make positive and healthy choices.
Additionally, students can prepare to work with families to help address a range of issues, including the impact of crises, disasters and other trauma-causing events as well as family conflicts that must be resolved in the criminal justice system.
Offered through Walden's College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, students can choose from the General Program or two specializations: Forensic Counseling and Trauma and Crisis Counseling.
