Walden University Names Final Recipients of Project Working Mom 2010 Full-Tuition Scholarships

MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Walden University announced today its final four working parents to receive Project Working Mom full-tuition scholarships in 2010, joining the 10 previously announced in April and July. Recipients of Walden's 2010 Project Working Mom scholarships comprise four doctoral, seven master's degree and three bachelor's degree students: 11 women and three men who are pursuing their online degrees at Walden in fields addressing workforce needs, including computer information systems, education, mental health counseling, management, nursing and public policy and administration.

The four working parents chosen to receive these scholarships to Walden are:

• LaTasha Burl of Burtonsville, Md.––M.S. in Mental Health Counseling
• Rachel Holeman of Okauchee, Wis.––Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Completion Program
• Raymond Pichon of Snellville, Ga.—B.S. in Computer Information Systems
• Craig Smith of Marietta, Ga.––B.S. in Computer Information Systems

"It would mean so much to me to obtain my M.S. in Mental Health Counseling so that I can help families deal with mental health problems," said LaTasha Burl. "I know this scholarship will not only help me finish school successfully but will also free my mind so I can continue to improve my life and the lives of my children and other families whose lives I touch."

Scholarship winner Craig Smith added, "Being able to pursue my degree online will demonstrate to my children how to set a goal and achieve it no matter what your age. When I earn my diploma, not only will I be proud of myself, but I know that my children will also be proud of my accomplishment."
