MINNEAPOLIS, May 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Reports from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that the workforce is changing careers more often than ever and, increasingly, jobseekers are looking for help from career counselors. With the increased demand in this profession, Walden University is introducing an online M.S. in Career Counseling program to prepare students with specialized training and a strong counseling identity so they may help others explore new career options or prepare for a career change.

The new master's degree program is designed to give students the opportunity to develop the necessary skills to help individuals assess their strengths, values, interests and needs, as well as provide career guidance and build on traditional counseling techniques.
Developed according to national standards, the M.S. in Career Counseling can prepare students to work as career counselors, advisors or other professionals in a variety of settings, including colleges, universities, business and government, and community agencies. Students who enroll in the M.S. in Career Counseling program will learn from faculty who are counselor-educators and practicing counselors.
The M.S. in Career Counseling joins a suite of related online counseling degrees, including the CACREP-accredited M.S. in Mental Health Counseling; the M.S. in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling; and the Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision.
