The UPCEA marketing awards recognize the best marketing and promotional ideas, strategies and executions in the field of continuing education. The panel of seven judges, who each has experience in education or marketing, selected the Internet-based Social Change Conference for the gold award in the streaming/on-demand content category. The judges commented that the Social Change Conference was "very interactive and high quality."
Moderated by Walden President Jonathan Kaplan, the university's sixth annual Social Change Conference, "Volunteerism: Encouraging Individuals to Effect Societal Change," included a group of prominent changemakers who offered suggestions about how to promote volunteerism and exemplify a commitment to social change. The online conference was designed to encourage people to think about volunteerism in ways they hadn't considered before and to inspire participants to motivate themselves and others to take action while supporting Walden's mission of effecting positive social change.
Last year, Walden was the first exclusively online institution to win "Best in Show" for its "Transformations" TV commercial. Since 1953, UPCEA has awarded its members' achievements in innovative programming, marketing and promotions, community development and services, research and publications and many other areas.
