Walden University Announces Nurses of the Year Scholarships
Six scholarships to be awarded to recognize nurses' outstanding contributions to the field
MINNEAPOLIS, May 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In recognition of National Nurses Week and to celebrate nurses, Walden University today announced the Nurses of the Year scholarship program. This new program furthers Walden's commitment to the field of nursing by recognizing nurses who are making a positive difference in the lives of their patients, in their organizations and to the future of nursing.

Walden's Nurses of the Year scholarships include:
- Leadership Scholarships that will be awarded to nurses who are using their leadership abilities to advance the practice of nursing, augment healthcare delivery or improve patient outcomes and who want to advance their careers by enrolling in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. One full-tuition scholarship, one $10,000 scholarship and one $5,000 scholarship will be awarded through this program.
- Change-Maker Scholarships that will be awarded to nurses who are making a positive difference in the life of a patient, healthcare organization or nursing practice and who want to advance their careers by enrolling in the CCNE-accredited Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program. One full-tuition scholarship, one $10,000 scholarship and one $5,000 scholarship will be awarded through this program.
The scholarships, which reflect Walden's social change mission and its commitment to providing access to quality higher education, are available to nurses who enroll as new students in Walden's nursing programs for the December 2012 start date. Those applying for scholarships must submit an essay, one letter of recommendation from a supervisor, a resume/CV and official transcripts. In addition to the scholarships, Walden's National Nurses Week celebration includes free public access to a continuing education (CE) course through Nurse.com. The online CE course, Anxiety Disorders (CE 175-60), will be available at no cost until July 7, 2012. Nurses can register for the online course at Nurse.com.
Walden's School of Nursing in the College of Health Sciences features faculty members who are nationally recognized experts in the healthcare field.
