The Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership's Ph.D. in Education program now includes an Assessment, Evaluation, and Accountability specialization to give doctoral students the opportunity to acquire the expertise to assess and evaluate program effectiveness, design evaluation and accountability systems and implement processes for continual improvements. This specialization is applicable across a range of sectors, including education, healthcare, government, corporate and nonprofit settings.
The B.S. in Child Development with a concentration in Administration and Management, one of the few degree programs of its kind available online, gives students in the program the knowledge and skills they need to start or manage a child care center or program. The General concentration provides a strong foundation in child development while offering students the ability to tailor their studies to specific professional goals. Walden's online B.S. in Child Development courses take into consideration the standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
Through the new online Trauma and Crisis Counseling specialization in the M.S. in Mental Health Counseling program, students gain the counseling skills and theoretical foundation to help individuals heal from trauma and to assist communities in managing crisis. Students develop the expertise to train and support first responders managing intense demands, and they gain the crisis management and leadership skills to help communities develop effective, responsive crisis management programs and trauma treatment services.
Students in the Project Management specialization in the Master of Information Systems Management program pursue a thorough understanding of IT project management principles that they can apply immediately within their organizations. Coursework in this specialization is aligned with the Project Management Institute (PMI)® standards and can help prepare students for the Project Management Professional (PMP)® exam and the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification exams.
Walden's Web Design and Applications Development concentration in the B.S. in Information Technology program can help students gain practical experience designing and developing applications that work seamlessly across multiple platforms and operating systems. Students can apply the knowledge and specific technical skills from the program in positions such as Web project manager, Web business analyst and mobile applications developer, as well as in other information technology and systems roles. In the Web Systems Design and Usability concentration in the B.S. in Computer Information Systems program, students conceptualize and create Web sites tailored to the needs of users across various industries and expand their understanding of Web interaction through the study of human perception and cognitive performance.
