Wajam Integrates Social Search Results into Google Maps
Search for Restaurants, Movies, Attractions or Businesses in any City through Your Search Engine of Choice and Wajam Adds Friends' "Likes" and "Check-ins" to Results in Google Map Interface
MONTREAL, June 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Wajam (www.wajam.com), a leader in social search, today announced the integration of social search results into a Google Maps interface. The social search plugin will now include a "Places" feature along with its existing Video, Photo and Link results. With this release, Wajam has broadened the frontiers of social search by bringing location-based recommendations for restaurants, hotels, attractions and more from Twitter, Facebook and Google+ directly to users in a fully interactive, personal map interface. Wajam is the first among social search extensions to integrate Places "Liked" on Facebook and Foursquare "Check-Ins" in a Google environment. Wajam's browser extension still brings users the ability to receive social search results everywhere they search, including Google, Bing, Yahoo!, Amazon, Yelp, Trip Advisor, YouTube and Ebay.
"Whether you are visiting a town for the first time or just looking for a good restaurant near home, what your friends recommend shapes your local experience," said Martin-Luc Archambault, Founder & CEO of Wajam. "We've filtered over a billion pieces of data from our users' Facebook, Twitter and Google+ profiles, and can now allow them to view the attractions, restaurants, bars, movie theaters and more that their friends have liked or reviewed. While searching in your search engine of choice, Wajam allows you to tap into your social lifeline – in any city in a Google Maps interface."
What's New?
Wajam Places shows location-based social results integrated in a Google Maps interface. No matter where you search, you can now get location-based recommendations for restaurants, hotels and cool places to visit along with the traditional Wajam Photo, Video and Link results.
Interactive Map Placement and Zoom – Use the map exactly as you normally use Google Maps. As you zoom in, zoom out or drag the placement of the map, new social results from your friends pop up in the new location.
Wajam offers two ways to search for social results – through its Social Search Everywhere Plugin as well as a search engine option at www.wajam.com. The Wajam Social Search Everywhere Plugin follows you everywhere you search, making search more personal by adding social network results to all web search queries – without having to change user search behavior. Wajam.com gives users a depository of everything your Facebook, Twitter and Google+ friends and followers are posting and the easy ability to search through this comprehensive mashup.
