Wag!'s Dog for President Campaign Has Top Celebrities Competing to Have Their Pooches be Top Dog
The Winning Dog will Create Jobs When Wag! Launches in its Chosen City or Town
LOS ANGELES, July 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Lucy Hale of "Pretty Little Liars" and Uber CEO Travis Kalanick are going canine to canine, in a competition to see whose dog can win more votes in a national race for dog president. As part of Wag!'s Dog for President campaign, the young star took to Twitter to urge fans to vote for her beloved Elvis, a Maltipoo, who is running on a platform of "put a dog on the moon." As it stands, Elvis is in 6th place, while Kalanick's Goldendoodle, Yobu, is in 3rd place! Yobu promises to "legalize dog marriage" if elected.
The campaign for president is the brainchild of Wag! COO Mike DeVerna, who was tired of watching the same 2016 presidential candidates all the time and had the fun idea to nominate a dog for president. "Most dogs I encounter through Wag! have the characteristics that I think would make great presidential candidates," said Mike. "In dogs I see a lot of loyalty, transparency of communication and most of all, heart!"
The winning dog will literally create jobs. Its owner will get to select the next Wag! city in which to launch, meaning one pooch will be able to add "stimulating the local economy" to his or her platform. Not bad for someone who's afraid of the vacuum cleaner!
Wag! is an on demand dog walking app that provides bonded and insured services in as little as 30-minutes. Wag! also offers boarding/sitting and is currently available in New York, Austin, Chicago, Seattle, LA, Orange County, San Diego, and San Francisco.
