WADL TV Detroit, along with a very generous benefactor, Citi Trends and the Bel Air Theater provided Detroit's needy school children with new coats, a movie and refreshments
DETROIT, Dec. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- WADL TV Detroit along with a private benefactor brought warmth and happiness to nearly one thousand school age children. The TV station teamed up with Citi Trends and The Bel Air 10 Theater to distribute new coats and treat the children and their families to a morning movie. In addition Citi Trends provided gift cards to assist the children who did not have coats available in their size.
The event is unlike any other coat drive in the respect that the children are given a chance to have a shopping experience. The children were allowed to pick out the color and style of coat of their choosing, were given glossy bright red shopping bags for their new merchandise, and were assisted by a personal shopper. Aside from the station volunteers, Mayor Brenda Lawrence of Southfield, Swifty McVay of D12, WADL'S Dr. Partha Nandi, his wife Kali seen on Wednesdays at 11:00AM, and Coffey Brown from WGPR107.7 also served as personal shoppers.
The Bel Air Theater went above and beyond as a hosting venue to the crowd of nearly one thousand which wrap around the building on eight mile road in Detroit.
WADL TV Detroit continues its commitment to metro Detroiters providing diverse and quality programming and staying in touch with the needs of the community.
