TAMPA, Fla., March 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- vXchnge, a leading carrier-neutral colocation services provider, announced today that the Company has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's list of Top 30 Technology and Telecommunications Companies using green power for a third time. The recognition is a result of vXchnge's continued investment in capacities, capabilities and technologies across its data centers that improve energy efficiencies and improve operating scale.
According to a recent United States Data Center Energy Usage Report, supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, based on current trend estimates, U.S. data centers are projected to consume approximately 73 billion kWh in 2020. At this rate of consumption, data centers will be challenged to provide enough power to meet growing customer needs. vXchnge is using green energy, along with energy efficiencies, to help future-proof power needs, while reducing their carbon footprint to achieve sustainability goals. At the same time, the Company is offering more options to customers to scale with their increasing power needs.
"Sustainability is a top priority as we invest and scale our business," said Keith Olsen, CEO of vXchnge. "We continue to improve our data center efficiencies with intelligent software-based infrastructures and improved designs. These investments optimize our data center power and cooling performance and improve environmental impacts that legacy technologies cannot afford. Our investment in these technologies and practices are improving our data center operations, increasing scale, improving power and cooling resiliencies and benefitting the environments where we operate."
Sustainability highlights:
vXchnge sites continue to lead with the recent implementations of power and cooling innovations such as Vigilent® as well as Vertiv™'s Liebert® DSE™ free cooling system and the Liebert iCOM™-S thermal system controls.
In June 2016, vXchnge's Pittsburgh, PA data center procured 20 million kWh of wind power to offset the data center's energy usage for the next three years. The Company's Secaucus, NJ data center procured more than 21 million kWh of wind power to offset its energy usage for the next three years.
In Portland, OR, vXchnge provides power to the electrical grid on an as-needed basis. The City relies on vXchnge to provide power during emergency power grid events.
vXchnge's data center designs, practices, technologies and alternative energy source implementations enhance the reliability of its services to its customers. To learn more about vXchnge, and to get a more in-depth view of Organization Sustainability, visit http://www.vxchnge.com.
