RADNOR, Pa., Aug. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- VWR, part of Avantor, announced today its recycling program, "From the Lab Bench to the Park Bench," has collected one million pipet tip boxes from more than 160 customers across the U.S. and Canada. VWR, a leading global provider of product and service solutions to laboratory and production customers, launched the program in 2012.
"We're committed to collaborating with our customers to accelerate innovation wherever possible," said Corey Walker, EVP of Americas, Biomaterials and Advanced Technologies for Avantor. "Our pipet tip box recycling program provides a solution for customers to reduce waste in landfills and support their ongoing effort to integrate sustainable business practices."
Pipet tips are commonly used in research labs to draw and dispense specific volumes of liquid. The boxes that contain the tips are often thrown in the trash after use. Once collected, the boxes are ground, melted and pelletized into resins that can be combined with other recycled plastics to make new products, such as shipping pallets and park benches.
VWR offers the "From the Lab Bench to the Park Bench" pipet box recycling program to all customers across the U.S. and Canada. To find out more about this program, click here. To participate, please contact a sales representative or shop at www.vwr.com.
