IRWINDALE, Calif., Feb. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Vulcan Materials Company, Western Division, today announced that it has been recognized with the "Joe DiShanni Business of the Year Award" by the Irwindale Chamber of Commerce. The recipient is chosen annually based on excellence in business, service to the Chamber and community, initiative and creativity. Vulcan previously received this honor in 2007.

Joseph DiShanni, founder, executive director and director emeritus of the Irwindale Chamber of Commerce, passed away in October 2003 at the age of 94. DiShanni played a key role in the industrial and business development of Irwindale. To honor his legacy, the Irwindale Chamber of Commerce dedicated the Business of the Year Award in his name.
