RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif., April 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly 50 percent of Americans are without vision coverage.1 In an effort to increase access to care, today VSP® Vision Care, the nation's only not-for-profit vision care company, announced that it is making vision coverage more attainable by offering individual plans with a monthly pay option in nearly every state.

Through the convenient monthly payment plan, which is available in 46 states, consumers can pay as little as $13 a month – depending on the state in which they live. Coverage includes an eye exam with a low co-payment, allowance for glasses or contacts, fully covered lens options with 20-25 percent off any non-covered options, and access to the largest doctor network in the industry—all backed by a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee.
"Taking care of your vision isn't just about seeing well, it's about being well. When your eye health is at its best, you perform better in all aspects of your life," said Ken Stellmacher, Director of Client and Member Marketing for VSP Vision Care. "By offering a coverage option directly to consumers, VSP is opening access to the best care, lowest out-of-pocket cost and convenient monthly payments for individuals and families who would otherwise go without or abstain from routine eyecare services."
In celebration of the new monthly payment option, VSP is also hosting an "Eye Got You Covered" sweepstakes on Facebook (www.Facebook.com/VSPVisionCare). From now until May 1, 2013, consumers can enter for a chance to win a VSP Individual Plan, providing a year's worth of free vision insurance coverage that winners can keep or give as a gift.
"VSP has made vision care insurance so affordable that consumers can buy it for themselves or give it as a gift to someone else," Stellmacher added. "Just in time for Mother's Day, Father's Day and commencement ceremonies, giving the gift of sight to friends and loved ones, who may otherwise likely go without, is a unique and thoughtful way to tell them 'I've got you covered.'"
