Voyages to Antiquity named 'Best for Adventure'
The young cruise line with a growing reputation, recently won the Cruise International Award: "Best for Adventure."
OXFORD, United Kingdom, Oct. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Voyages to Antiquity, the young cruise line with a growing reputation, recently won the Cruise International Award: "Best for Adventure."
Merging hands-on exploration with daily guest lecturers, Voyages to Antiquity sealed the No. 1 spot in the competition, topping formidable opponents such as of Northern Lights specialists Hurtigruten, Azamara Club Cruises and Silversea Cruises.
"For a small-ship cruise line such as Voyages to Antiquity to attract the sheer quantity of votes that they did speaks volumes for the quality of their itineraries," Liz Jarvis, editor of Cruise International and chair of the judging panel, announced at the awards. "Adventure cruising is growing rapidly, and it is a market that requires experience as well as comfort and accessibility. Our voters understand that a cruise with Voyages to Antiquity ticks each of these boxes in triumphant style."
Olly Symonds, trade marketing and communications manager of Voyages to Antiquity in the U.K., was present to receive the award at the ceremony, which was held at Kensington Roof Gardens located near Hyde Park in London. The award marked another victory for Voyages to Antiquity, which took home "Best Specialist Cruise Line" at the Cruise International Awards in 2012 and 2013.
"We would like to pass on our heartfelt thanks to all those who voted for us!" said David Yellow, managing director of Voyages to Antiquity. "We are delighted and very proud that our in-depth, exciting itineraries have been recognized. In addition, knowing that this has been voted for by the cruise-buying public and readers of the magazine makes it all the more rewarding."
Launched in 2010, Voyages to Antiquity quickly found a niche in matching explorers' adrenaline levels with travel IQ. The cruise line's only vessel, Aegean Odyssey, sailed through the Mediterranean over the summer 2014 season before preparing arrangements for winter excursions. Winter 2014-15 will feature 16- to 25-day itineraries of land-based explorations to places like India's Golden Triangle to the historic Malabar Coast. The vessel will return again in April for another season of in-depth Mediterranean, Aegean ad Adriatic adventures.
On each cruise, voyagers can map the history and development of major classical civilizations while experiencing temples of culture, religion and cuisine. With the third-consecutive cruise award, Voyages to Antiquity has become a household name in vacations that bring adventure lovers into the heart of the action.
