Developed by authors Anita L. Archer, Ph.D., Mary M. Gleason, Ph.D., and Vicky Vachon, Ph.D., REWARDS is grounded in extensive research and a classroom-tested strategy. REWARDS, an acronym for Reading Excellence: Word Attack and Rate Development Strategies, is a specialized reading intervention program designed to teach secondary students a flexible, highly effective strategy for decoding the multisyllabic words frequently found in content-area texts.
