Vox Mobile, GEMA Team Up to Develop New 'Open Source' Model for Global Consulting Best Practices to Help Enterprise Mobile Providers Get Ahead of the Curve in Developing Markets
GEMA Members Collaborate, Share Expertise in Groundbreaking Effort to Standardize Consulting Practices, Streamline Enterprise Mobility Solutions and Services across 110+ Countries
CLEVELAND, July 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Vox Mobile, the leading provider of complete enterprise mobility solutions, has teamed up with the Global Enterprise Mobility Alliance (GEMA) and 12 other alliance members to formalize a new set of global best practices to guide managed mobility services (MMS) providers in consulting with customers and clients to develop, launch and manage enterprise mobility solutions.
Vox Mobile hosted the first-ever GEMA Consulting Summit the week of June, 23 to facilitate the groundbreaking collaboration, aimed at developing a set of open source-style best practice standards that would provide a framework for enterprise mobility solution providers around the world to use in solving enterprise mobility challenges for multi-national companies. Representatives from 10 GEMA members participated, covering operations in more than 110 countries, including EVRY in the Nordics; SCHIFFL in Germany, Austria and Switzerland; EMS in the Middle East, Africa, the former Soviet Republics in the Commonwealth of Independent States, Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia; Vox in the U.S. and Canada; Qolcom in the UK, MSC in Australia and SouthEast Asia, CWSi in Ireland, XSAT in India, and BMobile in Mexico.
"There is a very strong desire among MNCs for the ability to offer a seamless mobile experience for their users across any nation, language, culture or carrier," said Nick McQuire CEO of GEMA. "However, right now, the only option for most is a complex piecemeal approach that requires companies to find and work with individual providers in every market, each with different offerings, unique protocols, challenges and solutions."
"We're working to solve that problem," said Kris Snyder, CEO of Vox Mobile, a founding member of GEMA and the only U.S. representative in the alliance. "Our goal is to develop a set of international standards based on our work with hundreds of clients here in the U.S., along with the collective expertise of GEMA members, to help organizations solve service, management, security, BYOD and other mobility challenges on a global scale."
While each GEMA member already offers some form of consulting, many are looking to develop a more mature set of practices to standardize the process and address emerging challenges. GEMA's goal is to build an open-source type of model that provides a foundation for structuring client engagement, policies, approaches and integrations, which can be customized or localized based on specific market variables. The streamlined model could then be implemented in any market with solutions available from GEMA members, designed for seamless integration.
"This summit and the collective effort of GEMA members is giving us an opportunity to develop our product offering and consulting practice much faster than we could do on our own to stay ahead of the curve in technology and solutions," said Heiko Friedrich, CTO with SCHIFFL. "For example, the trend toward BYOD hasn't really taken hold in Germany yet, but it's coming. With this foundation, we'll be ready with a mature solution to resolve those issues, while our competitors are still working to build one from scratch."
During the summit, GEMA members explored a number of mobile solution modules in-depth, based primarily on Vox Mobile's proven consulting product offerings in the areas of BYOD, MDM/EMM selection, mobile policy and governance and Vox Mobile's proprietary strategy planning tool, The Enterprise Mobility Blueprint. All the engagement documentation, templates and project plans are now available on a shared platform, where GEMA members can access, customize, and extend the tools for local application or as part of multi-national delivery. The group is also working to build new modules to address Wi-Fi integration and application development.
As a result of the summit, the Mobile Thought Leaders group pioneered by Vox is also expanding globally, with new chapters launching in London, Berlin, Oslo and Dubai, based on the framework for the existing 12 U.S. chapters that have already collectively hosted over 50 events.
