Voting Begins for Choice Hotels and Rebuilding Together Broward County

Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn Sponsor Rebuilding Dreams Contest for National "Make a Difference Day"

OAKLAND PARK, Fla., Aug. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Rebuilding Together, a national nonprofit who believes in a safe and healthy home for every person, has once again teamed up with Choice Hotels' Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn hotel owners, to help community centers in need through the Rebuilding Dreams project.

Rebuilding Together Broward County is one of four Rebuilding Together projects eligible to win renovations and repairs for a deserving community center, based on America's vote. Volunteers from Rebuilding Together, the Econo Lodge Franchisee Association and the Rodeway Inn Owners Association will repair the community center which receives the most votes.

Rebuilding Together Broward County has chosen Helping Abused Neglected Disadvantaged Youth (HANDY). HANDY is a local nonprofit organization that caters to abused, neglected and disadvantaged youth. They serve more than 1,300 children a year ranging in age from birth to 23 years. They offer several programs ranging from education, youth development and economic self-sufficiency. Their programs are provided at their main office, a one story building in desperate need of rehabilitation.

Although the structure of the building is sound, the interior of the building is very dated and is need of upgrades and renovations throughout. Specifically the areas that are used by the youngest could use a tremendous amount of support.

Voting begins on Aug. 23 and closes on Sept. 14. The winner will be announced on Sept. 17. In addition to Rebuilding Together Broward County, the other homeowner projects are in Milwaukee, Sacramento, Calif., and Nashville, Tenn.

Additionally, there will be a sweepstakes for consumers who cast votes during the Rebuilding Dreams contest. At the end of the contest, one voter will be drawn as the sweepstakes winner, receiving:

Round trip airfare for two to the city where the project is held
Participation on the project on October 25
Hotel accommodations for two nights
$500 in spending money
