VoteRunLead Hosts a National Civic Leadership Training in St. Louis (May 8-10)
Summit brings together women from 20 states to build a generation of future political leaders
ST. LOUIS, May 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- VoteRunLead (VRL), a national, nonpartisan non-profit dedicated to promoting women seeking public office, hosts a national leadership training summit in St. Louis, Missouri this weekend from May 8th-10th. Women from over twenty states will gather for three days of panels, workshops, and speakers at National Go Lead, VRL's second national training conference.
The National Go Lead program features experts, coaching and networking opportunities, and skill-building workshops on a variety of subjects including voter registration and mobilization, campaign management, voting reform, social entrepreneurship, digital advocacy and organizing, storytelling and messaging, and fundraising.
Elected officials, community leaders, and other political experts will share stories, lessons, and insights with women considering running for office or taking the next step in their personal leadership. VRL has tapped a group of dynamic, diverse, and inspirational speakers to share their wisdom and advice including, but not limited to:
- Tishaura Jones – Treasurer, City of St. Louis
- Marlon Lee – Director of Community Organizing, Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis
- Patricia Bynes – Co-Founder, Ferguson Alternative Spring Break // Democratic committeewoman, Ferguson Township (helped increase voter participation in Ferguson from 12 to 30% in recent election)
- Rhonda Briggins-Ridley – Founder and Board Member, VRL // Chairwoman, 50th Anniversary Bridge Crossing Jubilee (will give the keynote address, "Selma to St. Louis: The Cost of Justice. The Power of Participation.")
