SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- VorroHealth, a provider of clinical and interoperable technology for healthcare, today announced that Maria D. Moen has been named to the newly created position of Vice President of Care Innovation. Moen's appointment further strengthens VorroHealth's ongoing commitment to develop and deploy next-generation technologies to improve quality of care.
A recognized industry veteran who most recently served as Healthcare Applications Director at Brookdale Senior Living, Moen will be responsible for ensuring current technologies are optimized for ease of implementation and user engagement while supporting the advancement of technology applications in line with market need and rapidly changing healthcare models.
"I am passionate about the role of information technology to improve the quality and experience of resident care," Moen said. 'While I am very impressed with Vorro's EHR and integration technology, I am even more impressed with their culture of putting care first and their business model second. I fully support their distinctive open market philosophy and willingness to enable integration with any and all systems, including competitors'."
Moen has deep experience at both the facility and corporate level in varied care settings including skilled nursing, assisted living, home health, and acute care. She was among a select few chosen to lead a CMS Innovation Grant project to improve care transitions by using process re-design, enhanced communication protocols and technology to bridge acute and post-acute settings.
"Maria has been an important contributor to the early development of many information technology solutions that have been introduced into the long-term and post-acute care (LTPAC) market," said Tom Bang, CEO, VorroHealth. "With Maria's proven track record and deep understanding of LTPAC we are well positioned to serve the needs of our clients and keep our open, connected solutions at the forefront of the industry while elevating the standard of care for residents and patients."
Early in her career Moen co-founded a successful LTPAC software company, then founded her own consulting agency which specialized in managing and implementing complex technology projects for some of the nation's largest healthcare organizations. She has held leadership roles with numerous industry associations, representing both providers and vendors, allowing her to influence and be actively involved in the pioneering of emerging technology standards and initiatives. She spends time on Capitol Hill speaking with key government stakeholders on healthcare reform and the role of technology to improve senior care.
Moen graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business from University of Maryland in College Park. She recently served as an executive board member of the National Association for the Support of Long Term Care (NASL) and IT committee vice-chair of NASL.
