von Moltke backs up Daytona 24 win with victory at Sebring

SEBRING, Fla., March 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Rising star Dion von Moltke continued his incredible 2013 season by adding victory in the 12 Hours of Sebring last weekend to his recent win in the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

The PR Newswire-backed driver von Moltke was a part of Audi's first ever win in the round-the-clock enduro at Daytona in January when he teamed with Filipe Albuquerque, Oliver Jarvis and Edoardo Mortara in an Alex Job Racing Audi R8 to take the win in the GT class

He backed that up at Sebring - again with Alex Job Racing - when he drove the WeatherTech Porsche with Cooper MacNeil and Jeroen Bleekemolen to win the GTC class on Saturday.

The victory for von Moltke was actually his second Sebring win in succession. He drove to victory last year in the GTC class in an Alex Job Racing Porsche entry with Bill Sweedler and Townsend Bell.

While half the race distance of Daytona and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 12 Hours of Sebring is regarded as the toughest endurance sporstcar race in the world. Part of the bumpy circuit incorporates historic straightaways which were once part of Hendricks Army Airfield - a World War II airbase.

"They bring excellence to the culture of the race team. All of the crew guys and the engineers all have one goal: to win. That puts an energy into the team. I'm lucky to drive with these two guys next to me. Cooper put in a lot of work with two double stints and Jeroen put in three straight hours at the end in mega-drive.

The victory by von Moltke and the team was a fitting way to finish the final American Le Mans Series event at the historic Florida airfield circuit.

For 2014, the American Le Mans Series and the GRAND-AM Rolex Series will merge to form United SportsCar Racing - a new championship which will incorporate races like Daytona and Sebring under the one banner.

Remarkably at Sebring, one of von Moltke's Daytona teammates - Briton Oliver Jarvis - was also in victory lane. Jarvis won the race overall for Audi with Benoit Treluyer and Marcel Fassler. 

"To start the year with a win at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and then go back-to-back with Sebring victories is just incredible," von Moltke said.

"I was thrilled to win my first Rolex watch in Daytona and now to get another one here at Sebring for the win here is a real bonus.

"I have been very fortunate to be a part of both programs with the Audi and the Porsche with Alex Job Racing.

"To also have one of my teammates from Daytona Oliver Jarvis win the race overall for Audi this weekend was also great to see.

"I've got a Daytona win and now two Sebring wins. I'd really love to add Le Mans to that list one day. Getting an opportunity to go do the race in France would be the next on my 'must do' list."

von Moltke is currently sitting second in the GRAND-AM Rolex Series GT standings but is still working on locking in a full-time drive for the 2013 season.

"We're certainly looking at opportunities at the moment, but nothing is locked in," von Moltke said.

"We're hopeful the wins at Daytona and Sebring will help open some doors and I can take a real shot at the GRAND-AM GT championship. However, I'm certainly open to competing in the American Le Mans Series as well. My goal is to get back in a car and work on keeping this winning streak going."
