Von Maur Department Store to Open First Location in Oklahoma

DAVENPORT, Iowa, July 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Von Maur Department Stores is pleased to announce that it will open its 30th store at Quail Springs Mall in northern Oklahoma City on October 18, 2014. The split-level, 150,000-square-foot store will be the Company's first location in Oklahoma.

Known for its outstanding selection of brand name and specialty apparel, shoes, cosmetics, accessories and gifts, the store will feature products from leading brands such as Brooks Brothers, Donald J Pliner, Coach, Joe's Jeans, Hugo Boss and Tommy Bahama, among many others.

Located at the mall's former Sears location, the store will undergo a complete remodel in order to feature Von Maur's signature exterior brick facade, which includes arching entryways accented by copper cupolas. Inside, open expansive floor plans will accentuate Von Maur's residential ambiance, complete with antiques, original artwork and music from the store's grand piano. Fresh layouts in departments such as Women's Shoes, Juniors and Handbags will add ease to the shopping experience. An interactive, life-sized tree in children's will be designed to entertain Von Maur's youngest shoppers while an antique pub, motorcycle and television will offer enjoyment in the Men's areas. The new location will also offer increased parking.

After consulting federal guidelines, Von Maur took the initiative to build a severe weather area within its store to ensure the ongoing safety of its customers and associates during hazardous weather conditions. The 2,200-square-foot, partially underground structure, which can accommodate up to 430 people, is fortified by 10 inches of concrete and is equipped with separate bathrooms, battery backup and a dedicated natural ventilation system.

The new store will eventually employ 175 associates; the majority of them will be full-time. A hiring center to conduct on-site interviews with individuals looking for a career in retail will be located inside the mall's Entrance A and will be open Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CST.
