REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 5, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- According to a recently published report from Dell'Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the telecommunications, networks, and data center IT industries, Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) infrastructure market revenues grew 4 percent Y/Y in 4Q 2018, and Nokia retained the top vendor ranking for the full-year 2018.
"The modest expansion of VoLTE infrastructure revenue was in sharp contrast to the doubling of VoLTE subscribers during 2018, indicating that service providers have an excess inventory of network capacity to handle the subscriber growth," according to Dave Bolan, senior analyst at Dell'Oro Group. "Nokia retained its first-place ranking for the VoLTE market, which is a subset of the Carrier IP Telephony (CIPT) market. For the total CIPT market, Huawei maintained its first place ranking," continued Bolan.
"VoLTE (a.k.a. as the voice core) is moving to a cloud-native architecture and revenues are projected to grow 50 percent Y/Y in 2019. The new architecture will enable service providers to offer more flexible features in a timelier manner," Bolan added.
Other findings in the report for the top-three Voice Core vendor rankings for the full-year revenues in 2018 were as follows:
- CIPT: Huawei, Nokia, Ericsson
- CIPT Wireline: Ribbon Communications, Huawei, AudioCodes
- CIPT Wireless: Huawei, Nokia, Ericsson
- VoLTE: Nokia, Huawei, Ericsson
