BEDFORD, Mass., March 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- VoltDB today announced that VoltDB 4.0, a high-speed operational database, has been integrated into HP Subscriber, Network and Application Policy (HP SNAP) and HP enhanced Internet Usage Manager (eIUM), next-generation Telco Mediation, Policy and Charging solutions now available from HP.
Smartphone data caps, usage-based billing and the availability of new, bandwidth-intensive services and applications are leading to increased dissatisfaction with respect to approximations and batch-generated daily reports of usage estimates. Consumers now demand real-time account updates, and telecom providers are unable to link policy control with charging, rating and real-time subscriber data. Additionally, promotions are quickly finding themselves at a significant disadvantage. VoltDB 4.0 provides low cost per transaction and the ability for organizations to process high-velocity data in real-time.
HP's SNAP is a complete, end-to-end product designed to enable policy and rating decisions to manage network access and control quality of service (QoS), while improving business results and client satisfaction. HP's eIUM is a convergent mediation solution enabling both active and batch mediation solutions as well as carrier grade data brokering services.
VoltDB's in-memory database will power the HP SNAP and eIUM solutions and uniquely address the real-time requirements. VoltDB was purpose-built for high-velocity applications and is ideally suited for high volume transaction-based applications like policy and charging control that require scalability and performance characteristics that are beyond the reach of traditional databases. The newest HP Mediation, Policy and Charging solution embedded with VoltDB will be made generally available to current and new customers in Q2 of 2014.
"Telecom companies and leading industry solutions providers know that fast is no longer enough, consumers are demanding high performance and low latency rating and policy decisions as OCS and PCRF sit in the path of real-time service delivery," said Bruce Reading, CEO of VoltDB. "Databases are an enabling technology and VoltDB's unrivaled ability to handle high-velocity data allows organizations to create powerful revenue-generating applications based on real-time transactions."
