Volkswagen Group Remains on Track With Vehicle Deliveries
- 4.75 million vehicles sold from January to July - 14.4 percent increase

WOLFSBURG, Germany, Aug. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Volkswagen Group grew worldwide deliveries further in the period from January to July, handing over 4.75 (January - July 2010: 4.16; +14.4 percent)* million vehicles to customers. Europe's largest automaker therefore once again performed noticeably better than the world market (+5.5 percent). July was also a very successful month, with deliveries totaling 665,600 (July 2010: 572,100; +16.3 percent)* units. "The sales teams for all brands have grown deliveries all over the world. The Volkswagen Group is maintaining its growth trajectory with its strong model range," the Group Board member for Sales Christian Klingler said in Wolfsburg on Friday.
In Europe, Group brands handed over a total of 2.20 (1.99; +10.2 percent) million vehicles to customers in the period to July. In Western Europe (excluding Germany), 1.22 (1.15; +5.6 percent) million customers took delivery of a new vehicle. Europe's largest automaker reported a marked rise in deliveries on its home market of Germany where 678,400 (606,200; +11.9 percent) vehicles were handed over. Group brands enjoyed continued high growth in Central and Eastern Europe, where customers took possession of 299,500 (232,700; +28.7 percent) new vehicles.
Deliveries on the American continent again developed very well. The number of vehicles sold in the North America region from January to July rose by 21.4 percent to 375,500 (309,200) units, of which 249,500 (207,100; +20.5 percent) vehicles were delivered in the U.S. market. The Volkswagen Group handed over 538,100 (483,200; +11.4 percent) vehicles to customers in the South America region during the same period.
The Group reported strong delivery figures in the Asia / Pacific region, where 1.46 (1.23; +19.2 percent) million vehicles were handed over to customers in the first seven months of the year. Of those, 1.29 (1.11; +16.4 percent) million units were delivered in China, the region's largest single market. The company reported continued strong growth in India, where 62,800 (21,300; +194.5 percent) vehicles were delivered.
Upswing continues for all Group brands
The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand delivered 2.95 (2.62; +12.5 percent) million vehicles to customers worldwide in the period January to July. The brand enjoyed particularly strong growth in the Central and Eastern Europe (+44.0 percent), North America (+22.0 percent) and Asia / Pacific (+15.9 percent) regions.
Audi delivered 758,900 (646,300; +17.4 percent) vehicles in the first seven months of the year. The premium brand from Ingolstadt performed especially well in the regions of North America (+17.3 percent) and South America (+30.7 percent) as well as Asia / Pacific (+27.5 percent).
The Skoda brand delivered a total of 523,200 (473,300; +19.7 percent) vehicles worldwide in the period to July. The Czech automaker grew in Central and Eastern Europe (+19.1 percent) and in the Asia / Pacific region (+33.7 percent) in particular.
SEAT delivered 215,500 (211,500) vehicles worldwide from January to July, an increase of 1.9 percent. The Spanish brand reported growth in particular in Germany (+23.4 percent), France (+18.2 percent) and Italy (+11.1 percent).
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles grew deliveries 28.2 percent to 303,100 (236,400) units in the period to July. Growth was especially strong in the regions of Central and Eastern Europe (+45.8 percent), Asia / Pacific (+41.4 percent) and South America (+36.7 percent).
