Voices Against Brain Cancer To Host Inaugural "Join The Voices! DC Walk" On The National Mall
Medical Community Members and Locals Honored For Their Tireless Support For The Cause And Ongoing Fight For A Cure
WASHINGTON, Sept. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Voices Against Brain Cancer is set to host its inaugural annual "Join the Voices! D.C. Walk." On Sunday, September 21, 2014 The National Mall will be filled with individuals, friends, family and loved ones joined together in support of this worthy cause. Registration begins at 8:00 AM with a 9:00 AM start time. The charitable event will offer something for all the family, including a 5K walk and family festival area for people of all ages. By expanding its reach into the nation's capital, Voices Against Brain Cancer hopes to create greater national awareness about the disease. D.C. resident, Charles Warren has been chosen as the Event Committee Chairperson and is dedicated to making it a success.

Funds raised will go towards the advancement of brain cancer research and support, signaling greater hope for those impacted by brain cancer. All donations made will be earmarked for select institutions and programs in the D.C., Maryland and Virginia areas. On the day, many local patients, caregivers and doctors will be honored for their roles in the valiant fight against brain cancer.
This year's honorees have been chosen for their continued efforts in helping to raise brain cancer and brain tumor awareness. The recipient of this year's Gary Lichtenstein Humanitarian Award is Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa, MD, FAANS, FACS, Director of the Brain Tumor Surgery Program, Director of the Pituitary Surgery Program, and Director of the Neurosurgery Brain Tumor Stem Cell Laboratory at Johns Hopkins Medical Center.

Voices Against Brain Cancer was founded in loving memory of Gary Lichtenstein, who lost his valiant battle with brain cancer on October 1, 2003.
