Vodafone Hungary Modernizes Its Mobile Network With Tellabs
Reliable and flexible mobile backhaul solution to serve current and future needs
HIGH WYCOMBE, United Kingdom, March 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- One of the world's most dynamic mobile markets, Hungary has a high mobile device penetration, mobile-data-hungry consumers and innovative service providers. Moreover, its government is focused on delivering mobile Internet services to the whole population.
Vodafone Hungary, one of the leading service providers in Hungary, is dedicated to offering innovative, reliable mobile services to its customers. Vodafone Hungary will move to an IP/Ethernet-based infrastructure and expand its geographic coverage in Hungary. The service provider chose Tellabs to modernize its current mobile backhaul network.
"Tellabs' Mobile Backhaul Solution provides cost-efficient, reliable and innovative mobile data services to our customers," said Csaba Almasi, Senior Transmission Manager, Vodafone Hungary. "Our network modernization program addresses current needs and meets future technology and capacity requirements. Our new Tellabs IP Network provides a highly competitive solution for both needs."
Flexible and scalable solution for years
Vodafone Hungary had deployed the Tellabs® 8600 Managed Edge System and the Tellabs® 8000 Intelligent Network Manager into its mobile backhaul network in 2005. Now, it will upgrade the current network to IP/Ethernet while keeping an eye on the requirements of HSPA and LTE technologies. In addition, the operator wants to add more capacity into the network to match the growth in consumer data use anticipated in the upcoming years.
The cornerstone of the upgraded network is the new Tellabs® 8609 Access Switch, which cost-effectively provides greater capacity in the network. In addition, the Tellabs 8609 switch can be deployed in various network locations enabling HSPA and LTE-enabled networks.
"We are proud to continue partnering with Vodafone Hungary on its mobile network modernization," said Tarcisio Ribeiro, vice president, Europe, Middle East & Africa at Tellabs. "Since 2005, we have helped Vodafone cope with their backhaul challenges – and now we will continue to help them to overcome the challenges of IP and 4G technology migration."
Network management is easy, fast and cost-efficient
The Tellabs 8000 intelligent manager enables Vodafone Hungary to quickly deploy new network elements into its network without the need to integrate a new network management system in its OSS infrastructure and processes. In addition, Vodafone Hungary can provision new services faster with innovative tools, ready-made templates and automated functionality to speed up time to revenue and reduce expenses.
