Every year, Vivint employees band together to make Christmas a little brighter for children in need. Through the Vivint Gives Back program, the company's charitable giving foundation, Vivint employees are given the opportunity to donate their time and money to Sub for Santa. More than 900 Vivint employees across the nation helped shop, wrap, and deliver gifts this year. Each participating employee received a wish list for their "adopted" child to select personalized gifts including toys, clothing, and educational supplies.
"There isn't anything more rewarding than providing joy and restoring hope for kids in need. The looks on the children's faces as they open gifts is just priceless," said Josh Houser, president of Vivint Gives Back. "Vivint's Sub for Santa program is an awesome tradition and our employees are beyond passionate about making a difference for these children and their families."
Employees gave more than $100,000 from their individual paychecks, and Vivint corporate matched the employee donation dollar-for-dollar for a total contribution of $222,000 to fund this nationwide holiday effort. In Utah, employees delivered gifts to more than 1,000 students at Lincoln and Roosevelt Elementary, 98 percent of whom live below the poverty threshold.
"Unfortunately, the holiday season can be a difficult time for some of our students," said Roosevelt Elementary Principal Jennifer Reed. "This year, Vivint helped make it a little less difficult. Through the Sub for Santa program, Vivint employees generously provided gifts for our entire student body. It's always touching to see the broader community here to support and care for our students and their families."
This year marks Vivint's sixth annual Sub for Santa event. Since the program's inception, the number of children assisted has tripled. The 3,000 kids who benefit from the program this year are found throughout 125 locations in North America. The Sub for Santa program remains a favorite for Vivint employees and their families, as they get to help spread joy to these children during the holiday season.
