PROVO, Utah, May 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Vivint™, the largest home automation service company in North America, is providing another way to connect customers to their homes with remote video surveillance. From traveling to checking on the nanny to watching the kids get home from school, Vivint cameras offer a variety of features that increase the security of customers' homes while providing additional convenience.

Vivint surveillance cameras use Vivint's encrypted servers to store video, allowing customers to securely watch live footage from any smartphone or web-enable device. This means homeowners can adjust the angle of the pan and tilt cameras, change motion detection settings, view live footage of their homes, and access saved video clips on their online account from their phones. Customers can even customize their cameras to turn on when an elderly parent gets out of bed or the kids arrive home from school.
Jennifer M. from Holly Springs, North Carolina, uses her Vivint cameras in several creative ways. "When I leave to go out of town for work," says Jennifer, "I call my son often to check on him. Now, when he tells me he's home alone, I can actually scan through the house with the cameras to see if he's alone and not having some wild party!"
Other features include integration with the Vivint online account center. Customers can go online to schedule recording times for their cameras or to direct their cameras to activate and record only when motion is detected. Customers can also receive push notifications when their cameras record clips so they can see what is being recorded in real time or access saved clips.
The cameras also support a variety of unique features, including infrared technology for nighttime surveillance. Infrared allows each camera to see more than 20 feet in the dark, while still delivering true daytime color.
Sheila K. from Lethbridge, Alberta, also makes good use of her cameras to save time and keep her home secure. "Because I am away a lot, a good portion of my time when I'm home is spent on maintenance appointments. Now, I can set up the appointment for any time, use my phone and Vivint system to unlock my door, let the repairmen into my house, and watch them on my cameras. It's great. I don't have to sit around my house on my day off waiting for them to show up."
Vivint security cameras are available in Vivint's Home Automation package. For more information about this or any other Vivint product, visit vivint.com/en/support/products or call 800.216.5232.
