All-Inclusive Resort Provides Incredible Deal to Locals and Visitors During the Popular Event on Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas Along with an Unforgettable Viva Wyndham Experience
MIAMI, May 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach Resort, located in Freeport on Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas, is offering locals and visitors a special rate for the Junkanoo Summer Festival. This year's festival will be held at Taino Beach every Thursday from July 7 – July 28 from 6 – 11 p.m. The all-inclusive rate at the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach is $141 per person, per night, double occupancy.
Junkanoo is the national festival of the Bahamas representing its culture and heritage. Junkanoo originated during the days of slavery when the slaves were given time off to celebrate the holidays with African dance, music and costume. The festival is named after John Canoe, a 19th century African tribal chief who demanded the right to celebrate with his people even after being brought to the West Indies in slavery. The Junkanoo Summer Festival is coordinated by the Ministry of Tourism & Aviation and features live nationally known and local bands, traditional dances, authentic crafts, Bahamian cuisine, limbo and fire dancing and kid's games and activities.
Additionally, kids 12 years of age and younger can stay, play and eat free during the Junkanoo Festival at the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach. Parents and children alike can also enjoy Viva Wyndham's Kids Club, a supervised activities program for kids ages four through 12. The Kids Club offers a host of age appropriate activities that kids enjoy including drawing and painting, windsurfing, mini tournaments, kayaking, volleyball, sandcastle building, board games, pool games, talent shows, puzzles, video games and face painting. Enrollment in the Viva Wyndham Kids Club is included in the kids stay free offer. The kids stay free offer is based on a two child maximum.
The Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach offers 276 island inspired guest rooms with balconies and features a secluded beach with 1,200 feet of white sands and crystal clear waters. As the only all-inclusive resort on the island, it is surrounded by tropical forests and parklands. Additionally, one of the world's largest reef systems is located just off shore which makes for memorable snorkeling. The resort is a 45 minute flight from Florida and 13 miles from Freeport Airport.
