MIAMI BEACH, Fla., March 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- United Projection, a leader in the explosive field of video mapping and projection mapping, announced today the formation of the first ever international Visual Artist Awards (VAA).
The VAA will pay homage to the best visual artists in the world, in one of the most exciting locations of the Americas, Miami Beach. Submissions for the "Vizzys" will start on May 1, 2017. The winners will be announced at a dazzling ceremony at The Temple House in November, 2017.
The Visual Artist Awards has been established to be the primary platform of recognition for contemporary digital visual artists in the field of video mapping, projection mapping, motion graphics, augmented reality, virtual reality and 360 degree video. These frontier technologies are transforming the entertainment and digital arena that is projected to be a $150 billion industry by 2020.
"The VAA is the first global platform to identify, honor and reward artists that advance the genre through their innovation in both the creative and technical realm," said Daniel Davidson, Chief Creative Innovator and Founder of the Visual Artist Awards. "Just like other annual awards ceremonies for film, television, theater, and music, the Vizzys will shine mega-watts of light on the brightest and best talents in the rapidly growing field of the digital visual arts. We are discovering the most creative and imaginative people around the world," he added.
A sample of the creative and technical categories to be awarded in the upcoming ceremony are:
- Best 360 Video - Creative
- Best Automotive Video Mapping - Creative
- Best Exterior Architectural Video Mapping - Creative
- Best Video Mapping Media Server - Technical

The awards submissions are open for any artistic work that follows the guidelines described in the VAA2017 Rules & Regulations. Every artist submitting work must pay a small registration fee for each category with discounted registration available to students (must have valid student ID). All the works will be evaluated by the VAA Selection Committee comprised of leading artists, industry experts and pioneering creative minds with relevant experience in the visual arts. http://www.visualartistawards.com/register/
The winners of The Visual Artist Award will each receive a "Vizzy," a handcrafted bronze, chromium-plated award, polished to a mirrored finish and mounted on a block of solid black granite. The impressive award stands over 12 inches tall.
Davidson and his team anticipate an influx of submissions from around the world. "Video imaging is here to stay and the growth and capabilities of the global talent pool is unimaginable," Davidson added. "We cannot wait to see the magnitude of talent and their creations. The future is here. The future is now. The future is visual."
