Vista Partners Initiates Coverage on Acorn Energy, Inc.; Target Price $9.50

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Vista Partners announced today that it has initiated coverage on Acorn Energy, Inc. (NasdaqGM: ACFN) ("The Company" or "ACFN"); with a twelve month target price of $9.50. Ross Silver, Principal Analyst at Vista Partners, stated, "The Company recently sold their CoaLogix subsidiary for $101M, a return of 340% on their total investment of $18.2 million. The sale was completed at approximately 5x revenues and provides the Company with a sizable cash war chest to possibly make an additional acquisition(s), accelerate growth within its existing portfolio of companies, pay a special dividend(s) to investors, pay some manner of a recurring quarterly dividend on a go–forward basis and/or buy back shares. This sale is the second sale of a portfolio company by ACFN management in a four year period." Mr. Silver continued, "Of the Company's portfolio companies, we believe USSI which has developed a fiber-optic sensor for use in oil and gas reservoir management, pipeline monitoring and perimeter security solutions to be the most attractive and the company with the most upside. The amount of hydrocarbons currently extracted from a reserve is estimated to be a mere 30-35% and if USSI's sensors can increase extraction even modestly, the returns to a producer could be enormous.
