Visitors to The Palm Beaches Can Watch Mural Artists Create an Outdoor Museum
Starting November 26, Large-Scale Mural Art will transform Downtown Lake Worth as CANVAS Outdoor Museum™ Expands in Palm Beach County
LAKE WORTH, Fla., Oct. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Downtown Lake Worth in Palm Beach County will be filled with color and art next month as the CANVAS Outdoor Museum™ Show, the nation's largest outdoor museum, expands to this arts district. Ten artists from around the globe will assemble for one week from November 26 until December 2 to transform the city's streets.
Blank walls will be reimagined with colossal murals, and monumental shipping containers, art installations and interactive sculptures will appear in high-profile locations within walking distance of the Downtown corridor. Best of all, visitors have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch it all happen and interact with international mural artists in real-time as they create their masterpieces.
Known for stunning beauty and elegance, The Palm Beaches have earned a global reputation for arts and cultural offerings. Home to world-class museums and performance venues such as the Norton Museum of Art, Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, Boca Raton Museum of Art and Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, Palm Beach County also offers abundant walkable arts districts with outdoor murals and interactive sculptures. This growing and vibrant public art scene complements public buildings, parks and plazas, creates a sense of place and beckons tourists to explore.
Rena Blades, president and CEO of the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, said, "Public art delights and inspires visitors everywhere in The Palm Beaches. From the murals and art parks in Downtown West Palm Beach, to the kinetic sculptures in Boynton Beach and Artists Alley in Delray Beach, these new CANVAS artworks in Lake Worth will make Palm Beach County an even greater art destination."
CANVAS Outdoor Museum™ Show founder and curator Nicole Henry said, "CANVAS is leaving a permanent footprint for visitors to enjoy year-round. High--profile international artists - each with their own following – will expand the energy and joy of public art in The Palm Beaches. Artists were selected based on their innovative ideas and interactive components of their work to express this year's theme of Unity, embodying how art brings people together."
Visitors are encouraged to download the free CANVAS Outdoor Museum™ app from the Apple or Android stores for a self-guided tour of this year's exhibition. A map of exhibit locations as well as artist information can be found at canvasmuseum.org.
