Visitor Centers Remain Open During Government Shutdown
While the Independence Visitor Center is closed as a result of the government shutdown, three other visitor centers throughout Center City remain open.
PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- As a result of the government shutdown implemented, the Independence Visitor Center located in Independence National Historical Park at 6th and Market Streets is closed until further notice; however, three satellite locations throughout the city operated by the Independence Visitor Center Corporation (IVCC) will remain operational:

The IVCC provides the same outstanding visitor services offered in the Independence Visitor Center (with the exception of any services directly related to Independence National Historical Park), at each of its satellite locations listed above throughout Center City. Visitors and locals will continue to be able to receive visitor information, purchase tickets to over 60 tours and attractions in the region, speak to our multi-lingual concierge staff and pick up area maps and brochures.

Many attractions in the Historic District surrounding Independence National Historical Park remain open and continue to welcome visitors to the area including the National Constitution Center, Historic Philadelphia Center, Betsy Ross House, Franklin Square, Christ Church and Burial Ground, American Philosophical Society and Carpenter's Hall.
