The Grand Strand Descends on the Bluegrass State
SPARTA, Ky., Sept. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Kentucky Speedway announced Scott Schult will serve as grand marshal and the honorary starter will be Johanna Hodge for Saturday's, Sept. 26 NASCAR XFINITY Series VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 at Kentucky Speedway.
Schult, the executive vice president of marketing, has been in destination marketing for 18 years, and has spent the past eight years with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Visit Myrtle Beach. He loves travel, tourism, and is excited about the second year of partnering with Kentucky Speedway to bring together people who are passionate about families, racing, and beach vacations.
Recently, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber was named the 2015 Chamber of the Year by the Association of Chamber Commerce Executives (ACCE).
The honorary starter will be Johanna Hodge, marketing production manager for Visit Myrtle Beach. Hodge oversees the advertising and publishing for various publications and member referral programs. She has been with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce for 25 years.
Fans visiting the speedway throughout the weekend will be able to test their surfing skills on a mechanical surfboard, view a sand sculpture featuring last year's XFINITY Series race winner Brendan Gaughan, and the "Smiles in the Sand" Facebook photo contest winner.
Guests also will have the opportunity to get an autograph from their favorite XFINITY Series driver when series point leader Chris Buescher, reigning VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 winner Brendan Gaughan, Louisville, Kentucky native Ben Rhodes, Ryan Blaney and other drivers participate in an autograph session 3 p.m., to 3:45 p.m., Saturday.
The Racing Junk Car Show will take place Saturday with registration starting at 11:30 a.m., judging from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Awards presentation will begin at approximately 5 p.m.
Kroger Fan Zone passes are available for those wanting to see an up-close, infield view of driver introductions, have access to pit road during designated times, view of inspection and garages on race day and more fun activities.
The green flag will wave on a fun-filled Myrtle Beach themed race weekend beginning Friday, Sept. 25 with the ARCA Racing Series Crosley 150 at 8 p.m., and XFINITY Series VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 at Kentucky Speedway race Saturday, September 26 at 8 p.m.
