Visit Vacaville Turns 10!
10th Anniversary Celebration scheduled for September at Nut Tree Plaza
VACAVILLE, Calif., Aug. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Visit Vacaville, a destination marketing organization, today announced it will host a public 10th anniversary party on September 10 to celebrate a decade of service to the community. The event will take place at 6 p.m. in the Nut Tree Plaza, 1661 E. Monte Vista Ave., and will include food and music.
Visit Vacaville has created substantial revenue for the city over the years, and incorporated new technologies and strategies to enhance the city's reputation as a destination of choice. These changes included renaming and repositioning the organization (from the Vacaville Conference and Visitors Bureau to Visit Vacaville) to keep pace with industry best practices, to moving to a more visible location at the Nut Tree and growing staff support to four team members. A new website, enhanced social media programs, the implementation of Restaurant Week and the addition of a Director of Barketing publicity role for a local canine who promotes dog-friendly local fun have all contributed to Vacaville's increased visibility, key to the organization's success.
Financially, Visit Vacaville has seen these efforts play out through the growth of the Transient Occupancy Tax, which now brings in more than $1 million annually – a massive economic impact. The organization has also seen local tourism jobs thrive; approximately 7,000 people now hold tourism and hospitality jobs in Solano County.
"Visit Vacaville has been promoting local tourism for a decade as of this year," said Visit Vacaville President & CEO Melyssa Laughlin. "It is an incredible milestone and we are proud of all that we have accomplished, even as we look forward to all of the exciting developments in the years to come."
Visit Vacaville has played a major role in corporate relocation assistance and tours for companies moving headquarters, offices, employees and operations to Vacaville. Additionally, the organization serves as a marketing arm for the city, providing information for visitors and promoting Vacaville through regional, statewide and national partnerships.
