Visit Leica Biosystems at USCAP 2015 to Look Inside Einstein's Brain
VISTA, California, March 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Leica Biosystems, a global leader in automation and workflow solutions for anatomic pathology, is providing participants of the USCAP meeting in Boston, MA, March 21-27, 2015, with a rare opportunity to look inside Albert Einstein's brain.
Leica Biosystems invites attendees to come to the Best Brains in Pathology exhibit at booth #901 to explore over 500 slides of Einstein's brain and examine the Nobel Prize-winning physicist's neuroanatomy. The original slides were prepared by Dr. Thomas Harvey, who conducted the autopsy of Albert Einstein in 1955. These slides were scanned using an Aperio digital pathology scanner to capture the vast amount of information contained within the slides at a resolution high enough so that the slides can be stored safely away, while the data can be made available to everyone.
This remarkable collection of slides, in the form of an interactive display, is on loan from the National Museum of Health and Medicine, Chicago. "We are privileged to share such an important artifact as Einstein's brain at USCAP," said Puneet Sarin, Leica Biosystems vice president and general manager of its Pathology Imaging Business. "However, this exhibit is not just about preservation. Our visitors will discover innovative Leica Biosystems solutions that support sharing, collaboration, and analysis for healthcare professionals and researchers around the world."
Participants are encouraged to "Look inside Einstein's brain" at this year's meeting, and join with the greatest minds at USCAP to transform pathology together.
