SANTA FE, N.M., May 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Kiyomi Baird, visual artist and founder of OTA Contemporary, is pleased to announce the gallery's public opening on May 12, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at 203 Canyon Road. The gallery's inaugural exhibition, Beginnings, features the work of artists Robert Drummond, Bob Hill, Somers Randolph, and Kiyomi Baird. Artists' Talk 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Baird, who relocated to Santa Fe from New Jersey less than a year ago, will exhibit artists whose voices stir something authentic in viewers. "I don't want to just show artists as a traditional gallery," says Baird; "I intend to show work that piques your interest, sparks your passion and sends a positive ripple out into the world."
Each month, the gallery will launch themed exhibitions, host "Conversations" featuring passionate community stars from all walks of life, and present collaborative performance events. OTA Contemporary is equipped with state-of-the-art DMX lighting and video-projection mapping designed to enhance new media presentation. "Usually it is museums that show this type of work," says Baird. "OTA invites visitors to experience new media and digital art in an intimate gallery setting."
In addition to the redesigned 3,000 square foot gallery, OTA Contemporary features an outdoor private sculpture garden. Other exciting features are an immersive space and an upcoming virtual reality installation. Customized environments for special private events and collaborative performances will be featured, beginning with the inaugural opening weekend.
Beginnings will be on view at the gallery from May 12 to June 4, 2017. For more information about OTA Contemporary's upcoming events and other opportunities, please visit: http://www.otacontemporary.com/.
About OTA Contemporary:
With a vision to inspire curiosity and human passions through unique exhibitions, OTA Contemporary encourages collaboration and dialogue among multiple artistic disciplines— evoking new ways of looking and learning about art while stimulating a sense of joy and wonder. The gallery and performance space will offer a robust exhibition schedule, public programs, and events that delight audiences with intimate and evocative art experiences.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITING ARTISTS:
ROBERT DRUMMOND: Embracing imagery which evokes human presence as integral to his media expressions, New Mexico-based video performance and installation artist Robert Drummond premiers two new interactive installation series alongside his intimate cradled cast glass and LCD wall pieces. CRYPTOCHROME and SENSE COLUMNS both utilize parabolic acoustic reflection, ultrasonic directional audio, and automated LED lighting systems which integrate human interaction as elemental to the medium.

BOB HILL: After more than thirty years as a painter, New England-based Bob Hill discovered his passion for sculpture while studying architectural form. Expressing the rhythm, drama and flow of human existence, Bob Hill's fluid stainless steel sculptures evolve individually as they are created, leading to unexpected discovery and expression of uniquely cadenced configurations, provoking a magnetic human response. http://www.bobhillsculpture.net/
SOMERS RANDOLPH: The exquisite flowing stone sculptures of Santa Fe artist Somers Randolph express the ancient conundrum of the infinitely ephemeral and timeless quality of a medium entirely reliant on reductive application. Often manifested in mobius-like formations, emblematic of the infinite, each piece is a singular humanistic statement. Of course, it is Randolph's charismatic energy, transcendent vision, and sheer tenacity which are the mechanisms by which his art relates to the viewer and elicits this vital human response. http://www.somersrandolph.com/
KIYOMI BAIRD is the visionary founder of OTA and a visual artist whose life work is grounded in the beauty and joy of life and the evolution of the human spirit. Regardless of the medium, Baird seeks to create spaces that serve as portals to inner dimensions of the cosmos, awakening feelings and self discoveries. http://www.kiyomibaird.com/
